Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig November 21, 1983) is an American actress who is best known for her roles as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC TV series Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Maggie Grace, originally from Worthington from Ohio left high school and moved to Los Angeles after her divorced parents. As she struggled financially, she was able to land her first acting gig as Rachel's Room's title character the video on-demand show Rachel's Room in 2001. In the following year, she was awarded a Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 with her portrayal of the 15 year old murder victim Martha Moxley in the television movie Murder which aired in Greenwich. She is part of the Gyllenhaal family and is the younger sister of Jake Gyllenhaal. Her first appearances were in films starring her father as an adolescent. Together with her brother she was also in Donnie Darko (2000). Later, she was as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics for her performances as the lead in the erotic romantic comedy Secretary (2002) as well as the dramatic Sherrybaby (2006) each of which resulted in the Golden Globe Award nomination. The actress gained more attention after playing Rachel Dawes, a superhero in The Dark Knight (2008), thanks to several successful commercial films she starred in during 2006.
